MDOT 100 Moment: 1956 - Federal-Aid Highway Act

President Dwight D. Eisenhower secured the passage of the Federal Aid Highway Act in 1956. This act piloted the interstate highway era while breathing new life into Mississippi’s interstate system and allowed the federal government to provide 90 percent of funds necessary for the construction of interstates.
